Although the considered potentially devastating storm turned out to be more of a dismal, rainy day for Shreveport locals, Seth Manly, Owner of GoWaiter Shreveport reports that “sales jumped starting Thursday afternoon”.

Manly agreed with the author’s comment “they get busier when it rains, so it’s win/win” stating that this was ”no unusual occurrence”, as the restaurant delivery service mans any storm they can to feed their community.

In fact, GoWaiter Shreveport goes the extra mile to offer customers incentive to order in the bad weather by offering deals and coupons; one was even included in the Hurricane Isaac email above!

Waldorf GoWaiter was recently featured for being the first delivery service in the Washington, DC area.

According to SoMdNews.com, Waldorf GoWaiter is the first of it’s kind in DC and surrounding area.  The restaurant delivery service mainly serves the Charles County area in Waldorf, Maryland.

GoWaiter Waldorf is comprised of 12 ZIP Codes and 9 restaurants right now (see below).  GoWaiter Waldorf is always adding new restaurants, though, so the number of deliverable restaurants should steadily increase over time.

Owners Chris and Kristen Bell are  U.S Air Force veterans and say that they found the perfect business for their post military careers in a GoWaiter.com franchise.

The business has already swelled in the first few months of operating, the Bells said, they have had to increase their drivers from 5 to 15 because of the amount of restaurant deliveries requested.

Restaurant delivery service adding 140 jobs

Sal Grassano wasn’t interested in adding a delivery service to his restaurant a year ago.

The managing partner of 6-year-old Carmela’s Restaurant Pizzeria in Longwood had
been approached by companies offering to deliver his eatery’s food, but he didn’t think it
was worthwhile.

However, after testing a partnership with Tallahassee-based GoWaiter.com. delivery
service for six months, Grassano said his restaurant’s weekly sales increased by nearly 4
percent, or about $500-$800 per week. “This was one of the best moves we’ve made in
awhile.”

Carmela’s is one of more than 40 restaurants using the new GoWaiter North Orlando
franchisee service , which is mostly Seminole County. Another 24 restaurants use the
franchise GoWaiter West Orlando.

Franchisees on average invest $34,500 to set up a new business, which includes a
$19,500 franchise fee, said Mike Handy, president and CEO of GoWaiter.

Meanwhile, the restaurants don’t have to invest in liability coverage for delivery
drivers, and the service takes on the cost of printing and distributing menus to potential
customers.
